Growing up in Israel, he honed his skills with some of the country's most prestigious clubs, gaining invaluable experience and a deep understanding of the game. Liad Mordechai began his soccer journey in Israel, playing for top-tier clubs such as Maccabi Netanya and Maccabi Haifa. His dedication and passion for the game earned him a place in the national team up to the U-20 level. At just fifteen years old, he signed his first professional contract with Maccabi Haifa, one of Israel's most renowned clubs for developing young talent. Primarily playing as a winger and midfielder, he also occasionally took on the role of a striker.
During his time with Maccabi Haifa, Liad Mordechai had the incredible opportunity to compete in the Champions League youth tournaments against top clubs like Dynamo Moscow and Dortmund. These experiences took him around the world, playing in different countries each year. He faced and triumphed over elite clubs such as Tottenham, Barcelona, and Juventus, as well as various national teams. These international experiences refined his skills and deepened his understanding of the global game.
After two years with Maccabi Haifa's first team, Liad Mordechai received an offer to play as a Division 1 athlete at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Embracing this opportunity, he moved to the United States, where he balanced his athletic commitments with academic pursuits. He graduated from FAU with a Bachelor of Business in Finance, equipping him with valuable skills for both his sporting and professional endeavors.
In addition to Liad Mordechai's playing career, he holds a D-level coaching certificate and has been actively involved with numerous soccer academies in Florida.
Liad's expertise and passion for coaching young players have been further enriched by collaborations with high-profile soccer stars like Luis Suarez, Christian Pulisic, and Neymar Jr., particularly through commercial work with the Puma brand.
